Working with Marketing Projects and Targets

How the Minuet Marketing tabs show Minuet Marketing Projects, Targets and activity, and how to push a company back to Minuet as a Marketing Target.

In Minuet, a company or contact doesn't attach to a technology directly. The Marketing Target is the link, and it usually carries a company, a contact, or both. FirstIgnite can show a technology's Minuet marketing context beside the prospecting work, and push a company back to Minuet as a Marketing Target.

Before you start: a team owner or admin must enable CRM panel to see any of this, and Push marketing targets to create targets. Both live in FirstIgnite, under Minuet Settings (app.firstignite.com/inteum/settings).

Your Minuet administrator also needs the Marketing Target Status managed list populated. If it's empty in Minuet, the status dropdown here is empty too, and the feature is inert.

Two tabs, one name

They show different things, and the names don't tell them apart.

On a project. You get the marketing panel, a carousel with a slide for the project's linked Minuet technology, plus one slide for each Marketing Project attached to it. Each slide carries that record's Marketing Targets and its activity.

If the project isn't linked to a technology yet, the tab is still there. It shows a "not linked yet" state with a link button, and makes no calls to Minuet.

On a company or a person. You get the record's own Minuet Marketing tab, with its activity, its active agreements, and enrichment sync. It appears once the record is linked to Minuet. See Matching and adding contacts and companies in Minuet CRM.

Linking a project to a technology writes nothing to Minuet

It's a FirstIgnite-side connection. It does not create a Marketing Project in Minuet and doesn't change anything there. What it does is light up the marketing panel, so you can see that technology's Marketing Projects, Targets and activity. From there you can create a target back onto the technology or one of its Marketing Projects.

Only the project owner or a team owner/admin can link a project.

Reading the panel

Each slide shows the Marketing Targets on that record, with status and priority. It also shows the record's activity: outbound email, inbound replies and notes. You can filter that by type, date range and author.

The panel shows a recent slice, not the full record: up to 50 Marketing Projects, 25 targets and 20 activity entries, most recently updated first. The complete lists live in Minuet.

Sections load independently. If one can't load, the rest still work, and the section that failed says whether it was a permission problem or a temporary one rather than blanking the page.

Status and priority come from your own Minuet lists

FirstIgnite doesn't define these. It pulls them from the managed lists in your instance, so they read exactly as they do in Minuet.

  • If your Minuet administrator hasn't populated the Marketing Target Status list, the dropdown is empty. That's a Minuet configuration step, not a FirstIgnite problem. Check it before you first use the feature.

  • The Priority list will contain entries that have nothing to do with marketing. Minuet shares that list across financials, activities and invoicing. Status is specific to marketing targets; Priority isn't. That's by design.

Changes to those lists can take up to a day to appear in FirstIgnite.

Creating a Marketing Target

FirstIgnite can suggest companies it has already ranked for the technology, with the score and the reasoning, or you can pick any company in the project. For a step-by-step walkthrough of every way in, with screenshots, see Creating Minuet CRM marketing targets in FirstIgnite.

  1. From the panel, choose Add marketing target, or start from a suggestion.

  2. Pick the company. From the panel this is required.

  3. Optionally pick a contact, or choose Skip — company-level target.

  4. Set In or out (In, Out or None), Status, Priority, and an optional Note.

  5. Select Create target.

Where you start fixes the focus. From the technology slide, FirstIgnite creates the target against that technology. From a Marketing Project slide, against that Marketing Project. If you need to choose, start from a contact's Minuet badge instead. That route offers a focus selector with three types: Technology, Marketing project or Patent. Those are three of the focus types Minuet supports; for the others, create the target in Minuet.

FirstIgnite can't write the target until the company exists in Minuet, so it resolves the company first. If the company isn't there, you'll create or link it as part of the same flow. The Create button stays disabled until that's settled, including when a contact you've picked hasn't resolved yet.

Notes have a 5,000 character limit, and FirstIgnite writes them to the target's comments.

The new target appears in the list, and you can open it in Minuet.

What FirstIgnite doesn't fill in

FirstIgnite writes the fields in the form above and nothing else. Your Minuet instance may require other fields on a Marketing Target, such as an owner or custom fields your office has added. Those arrive blank and need filling in Minuet.

There's also no way to create targets for several contacts at once. One target at a time.

If push is turned off

With Push marketing targets disabled, the panel still reads. The create buttons stay visible but locked, with "Push marketing targets is turned off for your team — a team admin can enable it in Minuet settings."

Filtering the portfolio by Marketing Project

On the technology portfolio you can filter technologies by the Marketing Project they belong to. This needs Minuet 19.0110 or newer. On older instances FirstIgnite doesn't offer the filter.

If something isn't working, see Troubleshooting the Minuet integration.
