Logging In: Email, Password, and SSO

Updated over 2 weeks ago

You can log into FirstIgnite in two ways.

Option 1: Email + Password

  1. Enter the email address associated with your account.

  2. Enter your password and click Log In.

Need to reset your password?

Option 2: SSO / SAML (if enabled for your institution)

  1. Go to the FirstIgnite login page.

  2. Click "Continue with SSO/SAML."

  3. Enter your institutional email address if prompted.

  4. You'll be redirected to your university's standard login page.

  5. Sign in with your usual university credentials (including MFA if required).

  6. You'll be redirected back to FirstIgnite and logged in automatically.

SSO uses your existing university credentials — the same account you use for email and internal systems. SSO is an additional login option, not a replacement for email/password login (unless your institution explicitly decides otherwise).

⚠️ Trouble logging in?

  • Can't reach your university login page or credentials/MFA don't work → contact your internal IT helpdesk.

  • Get through university login but see an error returning to FirstIgnite → contact your FirstIgnite Partner Manager.

  • See a message about your email not being associated with an active account → SSO is likely working, but you may not have a FirstIgnite seat. Contact your Partner Manager.

Password requirements

Passwords must be strong enough to pass a Zxcvbn strength test (developed by Dropbox). This estimates how easy your password would be to crack, rather than just checking for symbols or numbers. Common or weak choices like "Password1!" will be blocked. There is no forced password expiration. Reset links expire after 60 minutes. Passwords are always hashed before storage.
