Custom assessment templates let you save a specific set of evaluators and weights as a reusable configuration. Instead of selecting evaluators and setting weights from scratch each time, you can save that setup as a template and apply it to future assessments with one click.

Navigate to Tech Assessment in the left sidebar. On the Create Assessment page, you'll see your available report types. The default Tech Assessment template is pre-selected, but you can click New Template to save a custom configuration, or click Manage Templates to view and edit your saved templates.

Several default templates are already available, including Commercialization Process, UTRF Evaluation, Patent Evaluation, Patent Landscape, and Invention Disclosure. You can use these as-is or save new templates tailored to your needs.

Click New Template from the Create Assessment page (or + New Template from the Manage Templates page). The creation flow has three steps:

Step 1: Details

Give your template a name (e.g., "Biotech Patent Assessment") and an optional description to help your team understand when to use it.

Step 2: Select Evaluators

Choose which evaluators to include.

Each evaluator card shows a description and a link to view the full evaluation criteria. Use the search bar to find specific evaluators quickly. Check the box on any evaluator to include it in your template.

Step 3: Configure Weights

Set the percentage weight for each selected evaluator to control how much it contributes to the overall score. Weights must add up to 100%. Use the + and − buttons to adjust each evaluator's weight, or click Distribute Evenly to split the weight equally.

Click Save to store your template. It will immediately appear as an option when creating new assessments.

Click Manage Templates from the Create Assessment page to see all your saved templates in a table view. The table shows each template's name, number of evaluators, and the evaluation categories it covers. Use the ⋯ menu on any template row to edit or delete it.

When starting a new tech assessment, select your template on the Report Type step. Your selected template pre-fills the evaluator selection and weight configuration so you can skip straight to entering the assessment details.

Will this change my existing reports?
No. Previously generated reports are not affected. Templates only apply to new assessments.

Is there a limit to how many templates I can save?
No. Save as many templates as your team needs.

Can I edit a template after saving it?
Yes. Go to Manage Templates and use the ⋯ menu to edit any template. Changes apply to future assessments only.

Are there templates already set up?
Yes. Several default templates are available out of the box, including Commercialization Process, UTRF Evaluation, Patent Evaluation, Patent Landscape, and Invention Disclosure.
